Jet Li trained in wushu, the main martial art of China. Proficient from an early age, he was soon involved in showcase demonstrations meeting the Chinese leader at only 9. Early success brought early hard training which in turn led to being chosen as part of a goodwill tour to the USA - In 1974 a pretty major thing. First film was The Shaolin Temple, and was quickly at the forefront of the 80's boom in Chinese martial arts, soon becoming a star across Asia with numerous movies following. It was probably Romeo Must Die in 2000 that put him centre stage in front of the Western audience, followed by Kiss of the Dragon and The One. His skill at martial arts is stunning and no doubts now about putting him at the same level as Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. And so much more to come.
