Courteney Cox Arquette started studying architecture, but was lured into modelling, which led to commercials (famously she is the first person to say "period" on TV in a Tampax commercial). Also now famously, she was the girl pulled up onto the stage by Bruce Springsteen in the 'Dancing in the Dark' video (cast by Brian de Palma himself). She was already on TV by then in daytime soap opera As The World Turns. Still in the 80's she became Michael J. Fox's girlfriend in Family Ties. (Also see her in TV series Misfits of Science and film Masters of the Universe.) Several films followed, until Ace Ventura: Pet Detective signalled a step up and in 1994 a little part in a small TV series called FRIENDS. Okay... as Monica Geller (Bing) she has become one of the most famous characters on the planet. Friends finally came to an end in 2004 with many millions tuning in to see the final episode. Making her way in film, Courteney is still known for the Scream movies. More latterly check her out in Alien Love Triangle.
